About This Book

The Shari'ah has clearly outlined the various categories of sins. There can be no doubt that sins are the most destructive cause for a person's progress and success, especially spiritually. Sins cause darkness to overcome the heart, Allaah 333 becomes displeased; eventually he becomes rejected in the Court of Allaah. The need is thus to understand what is termed as a sin according to the Shari'ah, thereafter to shun these sins at all costs. This booklet identifies the various sins facing the Ummat currently, its various dimensions and angles and the importance of shunning them.
Maulana Ashraf Ali Sahib Thaanwi has written, "Sin darkens Imaan and creates weakness in it. No man wishes to even displease a worldly benefactor. The favours of Allaahon man are innumera- ble. Allaah is man's greatest and true Benefactor. How can the believer then displease Allaah J Besides this consideration, there is also the danger of punishment for the commission of sins. Such punish- ment may be both in this world as well as in the Hereafter. One form of worldly punishment is that man given up to sin engrosses himself fully, body and heart, in the world to such a degree that he becomes fearful of the Hereafter and thus detests it. He loses firmness of heart and Imaan. The believer should therefore not venture near to sin, no matter what type of sin it may be, whether the sin pertains to the rights of Allaah Jor rights of creation." (Hayaatul-Muslimeen, Rooh 22)
