About The Author:

Maliki jurist and hadith expert Imam Ismail b. Ishaq al-Qadi resided in al-Andalus (Muslim Spain) during 184-282 AH/808-895 CE. He was raised in Cordoba and educated under some of the most well-known academics of the day, including Muhammad B. al-Hassan al-Shaybani and Yahya b. Yahya al-Laithi. He also studied under the well-known Sufi saint Abu Madyan. Al-Qadi was a prolific writer who covered a wide range of subjects, including hadith, tafsir, Sufism, and fiqh (Islamic law). The Virtues of Sending Salat on the Prophet (Fadlu 'I-Salati 'Ala 'l-Nabi), which is a compilation of hadith and verses from the Quran that praise the benefits of sending salat (prayer) on the Prophet Muhammad, is his most well-known work. Al-Qadi was a highly esteemed intellectual, and Muslims continue to study his writings today. He is regarded as one of the key players in the growth of Maliki fiqh in Al-Andalus.
