A Treatise on The Silent Admonitions of the Graves O servant of Allah - know that this worldly life (Ad-Dunya) is a fleeting shade, a transient provision, and a path that ends abruptly. Allah, Elevated is He, said: "Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and pleasure. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion." [Qur'an 57:20] And He said: "The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you, until you visit the graves (i.e., till you die)." [Qur'an 102:1 -2] Ibn Kathir - may Allah have mercy upon him - commented on this verse: "You are distracted from the Hereafter by competing in the collection of worldly wealth
