Description
About This Book:
Ibn Taymiyyah discusses swearing by deities other than Allah in this book, emphasizing the significance of directing all oaths and commitments solely to Allah. Additionally, he addresses the problem of praying toward graves and presents his intellectual examination of the subject, which generally rejects such customs in light of Islamic principles. This book contains two previously unpublished rasaa'il (treatises) of Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah - may Allaah have mercy upon him - clarifying the obligation of Allaah's Tawheed and the obligation of directing the 'ibaadaat (acts of worship) to Him Alone, and the prohibition of shirk. The first deals with issue of swearing (al-halif) by other than Allaah and prayer towards the graves and the warning of Allaah's Messenger (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam) against that. The second deals with al-Istighaathah (seeking help, relief, and rescue in times of dire need and difficulty). It was edited and checked by Shaykh (Dr.) Aboo Muhammad Fawwaaz al-‘Awadeeal-Madkhalee. And for further clarification and benefit, an additional section related to al-Istighaathah has been added from Ibn Taymiyyah’s Qaa’idatun Jaleelatun fit-Tawassuli wal-Waseelah.
About This Author:
Ibn Taymiyyah was renowned for his scathing criticism of several of the philosophical and theological views that were popular at the time. He was fiercely against innovations and departures from the original principles of Islam. His teachings placed a strong emphasis on the unity of Allah, the value of true worship, and the necessity of having a close connection to the Quran and the Prophet's teachings. Ibn Taymiyyah's uncompromising dedication to the Quranic precepts and the true Sunnah (the teachings and deeds of the Prophet Muhammad) was one of the prominent features of his studies. He emphasized the significance of returning to Islam's founding texts and condemned any changes or customs that were not firmly rooted in them.
