About This Book:
A few years ago, an exciting idea came to me: compiling a collection of texts by Imam Ibn Taymiyyah. This collection would provide a personal look at his essential religious convictions, conveyed in his own words. This idea was brought to me by Dr. Muhammadiqbal At, who was the Director of the Research Center at the Imam Ibn Sa'ud Islamic University in Riyadh at the time. The proposal was welcomed with excitement, and it was even approved by the University's President, His Excellency, Dr. Abdullah Abdul-Muhsin At-Turki.
My goal with this book is twofold: first, to bring Ibn Taymiyyah closer to the English-speaking world, and second, to encourage a greater understanding of the pure Islam he passionately articulated via his writings.
What you're holding in your hands is the result of this effort. Inside, you'll discover carefully chosen choices from Ibn Taymiyyah's writings, including excerpts from the Majmu Fatawa Shaykh al-Islam (37 volumes) published in Riyadh and Jami' ar-Rasatil (2 volumes) released by Dr. Rashad Salim in Cairo. Minhaj as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah, Dar' Ta'arud al-Aql wa An-Naql, Kitab ar-Radd al-Mantiqiyyin, Al-Istiqaamah, and Iqtida as-Sirat al-Mustaqim are also represented.
My intention is that this collection will provide you, the reader, with a thorough and clear grasp of Ibn Taymiyyah's views on the Islamic faith, life, and society. The major goal here is to emphasize his optimistic attitude while only admitting his critiques
